high oil content, which is why, for centuries,
it has been prized in the construction of the
decks and hulls of ocean-going yachts. Climates
in which others wood quickly deteriorate have
little or no effect on teak. Maintenance if therefore
minimal, and depends largely on the "look"
you wish to achieve.
To
preserve the golden-brown showroom appearance
you simply brush on teak oil once a year. Or if
the desired effect is the attractive silver-gray
patina associated with naturally aged teak, simply
wash with soap and water. That's all there is
to it.
